I'm not sure what is happening to me..

But i've done some really un-me like things lately. I began thinking about this after the encounter I had getting my oil changed yesterday. I went to Uncle Ed's, which by the way i discovered is WAY more expensive then victory lane, and had a gay guy service my car. Yep, no doubts. He was gay. I saw the standard fare at the oil change place that I always see...the grizzled old Black guy, the large lesbian ex softball player working the garage doors in bay 2 and of course the country bumpkin with the southern accent and 7th grade education.

Then, out came the guy that was gonna help me (no pun intended). He was well groomed, clean, and sang and rhymed when he talked. Very well educated and honestly, the first person i've ever talked with while getting my oil change that I felt like i could carry a conversation with. Now, you ask why I think he's gay? Well, like i mentioned above, he sang his words and rhymed his questions to me.

"Here's your old filter, and here's a new,
what would you like us to do??"

He said that while bobbing his head back and forth. Picture, i think his name was Jack on Will and Grace....the guy that wasn't Will or Grace...that's who i'm thinking, but with blonde hair. OH, and when he typed, he did it with flare...each keystroke started from the top of his head, traveled down, made an emphatic click on the keyboard and then returned to his raised hand above his head awaiting the next letter.

He was the complete opposite of every person i've ever had change my oil. He also LOVED my pacifica....cough, cough.

Anywho, it got me thinking about what i've been doing. And in the last week i've had my teeth bleached, bought a tanning package and rented Little Miss Sunshine to watch on dvd. Three things i'd NEVER do. Now they all have good, manly reasons. My teeth had to match my new fake on i'm Finally getting tomorrorw, i wanted to tan cause i'm going to mexico, and i've heard the sunshine movie was actually pretty good. And, it really was. I'd reccomend it. It was like napoleon dynamite but with more of a purpose.

Alright, i think i've just had some unusual circumstances, i'm back now. I"ve gotta run, i'm making barbed wire and twisted steel tonite for dinner.

Oscars

i saw the list of oscar nominated movies...and i've HEARD of like 2 of em'. The departed which i saw and really enjoyed and Little miss sunshine because Alicia wanted to see it and i labled it a chick flick and there for blasphemous for me to see. (which, now i admit, i somewhat, partially regret as it sounds like a decent movie and not said chick flick)

Ever notice how oscar movies usually follow a certain criteria? They usually have a variety of the finalists from different genre's...1) a mainstream movie that everyone has heard of and did very well at the box office 2) a musical of some sort 3) a depressing flick on the state of the world or society 4) A low budget indy type flick with a big name actor 'taking a risk' by broadening their horizons and getting lucky with the good script and 5) something with a foreign feel to it like the English Patient or something.

Here's my Oscar nominee's if i was on the board

1) James Bond Casino Royale: The new bond Daniel Craig Delivers!

2)Star Ship Troopers: Best movie ever made..deserves perpetual nominations

3) The Departed: really was a good flick and Scorcese has been shot down 5 times for best director..one more and it's a record. Gee, do you think he pissed someone off behind the scenes in Hollywood at some point? Um....Yeah.

4)Aliens: Not the first one by Ridley Scott, but the second James Cameron one with more action..yes, i know this came out in 1986..it's my Oscar show though.

5)Pirates of The Carribean: It's like the highest grossing movie of all time. By LOGIC doesn't that make it the best?

Seriously...instead it's going to probably to go Babel with Brad freakin' Pitt in it cause it shows how depressing the world is...seriously. We are looking at Brad Freakin' Pitt in movie of the year. don't get me wrong, i like me some braddpitt...see true romance..see interview with a vampire..etc...but movie of the year? come on.

The other sign the apocolypse is upon is Eddie Murphy is up for best supporting Actor. Typing that alone is enuff to make my head explode.

MLK Day

i'm bored. Really, really bored. I'm taking this day off next year. this sucks.

I got into "24" last nite on tv..i think i'm gonna enjoy it. I thought it was okay, until Jack Bauer Bit a terrorists Neck off. Then i got into it.

I also watched the season 2 premiere of Rome on HBO. I love that show..altho, the ending last nite made me sick to my stomach...and that's saying somethign for rome...that's what that show does..it keeps your attention like no other and is over before you know it. Love that series and the characters..really well done.

Ice two days in a row..i'm worried about my young plants and trees i have..i may try some rescue operations on them tonite so the ice doesn't break their branches...

that's it.. i just wanted to ramble on to kill some time..1 hour..15 min till i leave..well..less...i'm leavin' early today. so, so boring.

Passport = Cluster Fuc%

Seriously.

I decided to go on a trip to Mexico with alicia in February (here's a link of where we're going..it looks pretty frakkin' sweet http://www.dreamsresorts.com/puerto_vallarta/index.html ).

However, new law states you have to have a passport now to go to canada or mexico, which i didn't have. So, i quickly became an expert on the process..

I had to go to the ups store and get my pic taken..this part was actually really smooth. Took my pic..made two copies for me..10 bucks..i was out the door.

Then, on to the clerk's office, which USED to be i thought in the courthouse. So, i went in and emptied my pockets into the metal detector tubs only to be told that since my cell phone takes pictures i have to check it in a locker for 50 cents out in the main lobby...so, i go and do that..come back..and after running thru the detectors..again...i say "so where can i get a passport?" Chuckling, the guard says.."oh, i wish you'd have asked me that before you checked your phone..it's in the other building." Jackass.

So, i go back and get my phone and walk down to the other building, which coincidentally enuff was DIRECTLY across from the ups store. i go in there with my birth certificate...ss card..drivers license..the whole ball of wax..or so i thought. Nope..i needed a personal check. Can't do credit card, bank cards..cash..gotta be a personal check..

Well, now i'm salty. Then, i realized, by the luckiest of twists, i had my checkbook with me!! I was paying a bill at work today and was too lazy to rip a check off at home and just brought the whole thing with me this morning!!........Of course it was all the way back in my car..which was back in the parking structure...one block BACK from where i just was when i was at the wrong courthouse. I uttered about 9 graphic profanities from the time the door to the clerk's office shut till the time i took the 5 steps to exit the lobby and get back to the street.

So, got to my car, go the check..walked all the way back...i had to pay the $140 expedited fee so i could get it back in 2 weeks...well, i "should" get it all back per the clerks' office...they of course were very emphatic about not guaranteeing anything. Man, they suck. They overnighted it with my birth certificate to the department of state. if i don't get it back, after paying the extra money within two weeks, i'll be freakin' hot.

Anywho, it's over. I got it. I got the trip all planned and paid for and i can't wait baby!!

Movie review: Alexander

Well, after sitting on my dvr for 10 months i finally got around to this movie. It stars Colin Ferrel and Angelina Jolie (as his mom of all people) and details Alexander the Great's conquests over persia, and into asia, all while restling with demons from his past..AKA his dad the drunkard king played by, and this caught me off guard, a rather poorly aging Val Kilmer. Who, while his career has seen way better days (ie- top gun and the doors, oh, and he turned down the part to play morpheous in the matrix..nice move dummy).

Anywho..the movie itself was actually kinda decent. I enjoyed the battle scenes..the scenery...it was okay. I can't really explain why else other then the fact for an over 2 hour and 30 minute movie, it went by kinda quickly. Cause frankly, i should have hated it.

Angelina jolie and colin ferrel had HORRIBLE accents. Angelina Jolie's defy's description, plus she didn't age till 30 years into the movie. She was the same appearance at both the 10 year mark and the 20 year part and we see no skin shots of her. Stupid.

Colin Ferrel has NUMEROUS slips where you can hear his natural irish accent peaking thru. It's freakin' obvious and can't believe nobody else caught it.

Let's see..what esle bothered me..oh, turns out Alexander the Great could also be called Alexander the Gay. Yep, he had a wife, but only so he could have a son. He had a chamber boy and a best friend of whom he loved. They didn't show it, but there was kissing, grouping and a brief shot of colin's apple sack. Nothing that i signed on for during the movie.

Basically, i wouldn't rent it, but am glad i saw it. The action was good, the story, i hated and was too drawn out...and frankly, i don't need to see another guy's man bag for any reason in a film. So, if you are flipping around tv and it happens to come on, check it out for a bit, but if it's not a fighting scene...turn it.

Guess I'm doin' pullups forever

Well, not forever. But all the back problems i've had? the pressure along my spine? I haven't felt like working out for over two months because of that annoying feeling in my back. I finally decide to say screw it,i'm gonna try and work out. And what happens?

After a 6 sets of pullups, yes,i was/am amazingly sore still from them, but the pain/discomfort in my back is gone. Finally. It was almost like pullups stretched out whatever was causing the problem.

Pullups suck. I hate them. But i'm doin'em' as long as i can. It's AWESOME to have that pain go away...well worth it.

holiday pics

These are some good ones...

Sean Bean

Sean Bean has long been one of my favorite actors. He's played in some pretty large movies over the years..Lord of the Rings, Goldeneye, National Treausure, etc...now however i'm seeing previews for his latest film and frankly, i'm a bit stunned.

He's starring as the homicidal maniac killer in "The hitcher" which looks like a cheap knock off of a movie from years ago where he goes around hitchiking and killing those who pick him up.

He's never had a role like this and it smells like career desparation. OR, he's just wanting to play a role he's never had before....to mix things up..i'm hoping it's the latter...i mean, sophia bush is co starring in this thing for crying out loud!

Say it like Gordon Gecko would...

Green is good...i love that flick..."wall street". one of my favorites, whenever it comes on i always have to watch a little bit of it. If for nothing else then for charlie sheens' overacting, but Michael Douglas nailed Gordon Gecko's character.

I was ready for a change..green is my favorite color..always has been..it's earthy, it fits in with most clothing i own and matches my eyes. Plus, it was time for something different on this site. I needed more visual excitement to mix things up again.

New Years

Was good. Went out with Alicia and her friends into ann arbor. Went to some bars i'd never been too. First time going out on the "town" so to speak in quite awhile..bad news was Alicia got food poisoning and was sick all nite and the next day. Felt awful for her. She's good now!

We also went to this place called "melange" which i think is french for overpriced food with bad service. They were busy of course and i can understand higher prices on nye..i expect that. But same time, they were hideiously slow and the appetizers were cold on top of it. overall, i don't see myself going back there.

I drank A LOT over the weekend, between nye, a party at rupert's parents house for him and his brother while they were in town and going out to celebrate my best year ever at work on friday....i need some de-tox. At least a few days anyway :)

i'm gonna throw some pics of the girls up here soon...i just need to get around to it...
